Home > About Us > Company History Company History Daniel Richman who built two story brick farmhouses for settlement families in Delaware County established the building tradition in the Bookout family in the middle 1800's. Mr. Richman personally made the brick for his homes in a barn near Daleville, Indiana. These famous brick farmhouses are still standing today and currently being lived in by families a hundred and fifty years later. Various family members have since carried on the building tradition and constructed several homes in Delaware County. One of the most famous was Glenn Richman who helped with the construction of the well-known Ball homes along the White River overlooking downtown Muncie. Glenn Richman's son-in-law, James Turner, next carried on the home building tradition by constructing several homes on the West side of Muncie. His daughter, Toni Bookout, great, great granddaughter of Daniel Richman, formed with her husband, Bill Bookout, in 1982, Bookout Builders. Today, Bookout Builders is a partnership operated by Bill, Toni and their son Bradley Bookout. Bradley's vision in the company has been to help Bookout Builders become the largest new homebuilder in Delaware County, building exceptional homes with great value. This partnership was formed because of the need for a builder who could offer the best of both the small individual builder and the large volume builder. Home buyers wanted the flexibility, adaptability and personal attention of the small builder and the economics of scale, management strength, and customer service after closing provided by the volume builder. Bookout Builders meets those needs through several small teams who are responsible for different segments of the building process. Construction managers oversee the day-to-day operations of these teams and the new home is carefully crafted to meet the needs of the buyer.
